OOTD: Is it Autumn Yet?

I spotted these floral cigarette trousers a week or so ago in Topshop and fell in love with them straight away. I've wanted a pair of floral printed trousers for some time but was never sure if they would suit me or just look unflattering and awkward. However these beauties are quite literally everything I could have wished for in a pair of trousers. The muted pastel tones of the print aren't too garish for everyday wear yet they could be dressed up with a cami and a blazer for a truly sophisticated evening look- something reminiscent of the outfits worn by Olivia Palermo I feel.

The look I have chosen here includes a beautiful oatmeal/ cream jumper from Topshop with embellished shoulders. This versatile piece dresses down the trousers, and I think with a pair of tan brogues (watch this space- they are high on my wish list!) this would make a great outfit for wearing to a day of university lectures.

I styled my hair with my Babyliss conical wand and the result is this gorgeous wavy look! It doesn't last very long in my hair unfortunately- I really need to find a wavy style that does though, because I love the softness this look creates.

I hope you are all having a good week! I can't wait for it to finally be Autumn (my favourite season!) so I can wear my cosy knits and layer up with scarfs, hats and accessories- does anyone feel the same?

OOTD: The Birthday (Play) Suit

 photo 2013-08-23_zps4246c39b.jpg photo Playsuitbackone_zps664b5d0d.jpg photo 2013-08-231_zpsc55ad8ff.jpg photo RingsandBracelets_zpsc59c7bd6.jpg photo 2013-08-232_zps859af591.jpg photo bag_zpsca13ef13.jpg

Next month is an exciting month for me- I go back to University* to start my second year there and I will also be celebrating my 20th Birthday pretty much straight after. I love birthdays and I was looking for something really special to wear for my birthday night out so I was excited to stumble across this gem in the sales last week as it's perfect for the occasion!

This beautiful playsuit was reduced from £48 down to £25 in Topshop. I'm not very good at finding hidden beauties in the sale, so to spot something as perfect as this is somewhat of a rare occurrence for me. Lucy Mecklenburgh has the nude version and looks stunning in it, so I was surprised to see it in the sale. I love the cobalt blue colour, it's really on trend at the moment. Topshop still have nude, red and green versions of this playsuit at full price on their website and in their shops which is strange as to me, this colour is perfect for Autumn/Winter. On the reverse of this playsuit the blue fabric drapes down to create a backless effect with a piece of black lacing to cover the exposed part of your back. I think this playsuit is both classic and flirty at the same time and it great for those of you that aren't ready to embrace completely backless clothes- at least for now anyway!

If you're looking to purchase this playsuit I couldn't recommend it more. Try and get it on sale as it's an absolute steal for £25 but if you are looking to treat yourself for a special occasion  I think it could really be worth the £48 for a nude (or other colour) version!

I paired the playsuit with a simple leather clutch I bought from Topshop before my summer holiday. I like the fact it comes with a shoulder strap as I'm always accidentally putting my clutch down and it makes it easier to dance if it's on your shoulder on a night out! It's also a fabulous bag for the day time too, and holds a surprising amount for such a small bag. The thumb ring and 'Love' bangle are both from River Island from their 'jewellery for under £5' which I love! The other gold bangle I bought from a market stall in Spain on my holiday and haven't taken it off since.

I hope you like this look, I have some more outfit posts lined up and also a special post showcasing my everyday 'back-to-school' makeup look and beauty recommendations- so look out for them. I can't wait for my birthday and university to start again, I hope I enjoy my second year as much as I did the first!

Home Decor Inspiration

 photo NotOntheHSone_zps183e728e.jpg photo notonthehs4_zps12e32a31.jpg photo notonthehs5_zps17714047.jpg

A bit of a different post today, I thought I'd offer a bit of home inspiration for you all. If you're anything like me you pin home bits and bobs to your pinterest board all the time and always look for the next home trend that you can interpret for yourself. I love decorating my room although I don't really get to completely change it very often. I do however, go to university and every year that means a new bedroom! I was in halls last year so space was extremely limited for me as my room was tiny- friends and family would refer to it as a 'cell'! This year on the other hand, I have a lovely bedroom in my new house and I can't wait to move my stuff in next month. It's a lot bigger and has a double bed and more space in general so I'm sure I'll be able to creep more home decoration bits in than before.

The lovely people at Not On The High Street asked me if I would like a few pieces from their site and I jumped at the chance! I've shopped on NOTHS before as it's an amazing place for thoughtful and really unusual gifts and homeware.  After thinking carefully about what I might need next year I settled on these three items. The brush holder is actually marketed as a small vase but as soon as I saw it I knew it would be perfect to hold my makeup brushes- and I was right! It's just the right height for them and tapers out at the top to allow them to fan out nicely. They do a few colours but I settled on this pretty pink and brushed gold version which goes in my room perfectly. I also chose this super cute bunny lamp (the seller I received mine from has stopped selling them but this is the same one) after seeing them on several blogs. It's LED lit and looks absolutely adorable on a dresser, not to mention it gives out such a warm glow. Finally I chose this beautiful trinket box in the shape of a heart. I love the textured floral design and it's just the right size for keeping my favourite rings and earrings in. I like to keep it on my bedside table so I can put my jewellery in it just before I go to bed- that way you never lose them!

I hope you liked this different post today. I hope to photograph my new university room when I've moved in so look out for that. And definitely check out the Not On The High Street website, there are so many beautiful things to look through so I really recommend you all have a browse! If you want to check out my Pinterest boards click here, I've pinned lots of home decor and also have fashion and beauty related boards.

OOTD: Summer Jeans

 photo 2013-07-22_zps1c9a08ac.jpg photo Headshot2whitejeans_zps40df7440.jpg photo 2013-07-222_zps98e9a24b.jpg photo HeadShotwhitejeans_zpsfa5ba81e.jpg photo 2013-07-221_zps78f6b471.jpg

I've wanted a pair of white jeans for a while but I was never brave enough to get some until recently! I think I had some scary vison in my head of them being hugely unflattering and completely see-through but these Topshop beauties are the complete opposite. I settled for my old-favourite, the Leigh Jeans and yet again they've lived up to their hype- I must own about 6 pairs of these jeans now. They are stretchy and flattering and no, you can't see your underwear through them so that's a plus!

I opted for simplicity in this outfit as I have been doing for most of summer. I chose to wear this simple cropped cami from Topshop with the jeans- I love how the Leighs are slightly highwaisted so you can wear them with crop tops and still retain your modesty! I also added a necklace I got from the Miss Selfridge sale recently so you might be able to still get hold of it. It's a pretty combination of gold and white triangles and I felt it fitted in with the look.

I once again decided to wear my wooden Miss Selfridge heels because I just love them. Tan and white goes as beautifully as black and white in my opinion and this look encompasses all three! The bag is my trusty bucket bag from Zara- they usually bring versions of these out every year so keep your eyes open for them as they go with so many things. I'm going to use mine as my flight handbag this year when I go to Marbella because I know everything I need will fit in it.

I hope you like this look. I'm off to Spain in a week so I'm hoping to get a few outfit posts there to upload for you all when I get back. Hope you are all having a lovely relaxing summer, I know I am!

OOTD: Into the Blue

 photo 2013-07-211_zps7e62371d.jpg photo headshot4_zpsa20232b1.jpg photo 2013-07-213_zpscca0a6ce.jpg photo Shortscloeup_zps7839e19a.jpg photo 2013-07-214_zps6e0d9bff.jpg photo BlueTopHeadshot_zps61286afd.jpg photo 2013-07-21_zps68b582b4.jpg
As you might remember from my last post, I'm loving smarter shorts at the moment. They make a perfect change from skirts and I just can't get enough of them! I bought these shorts not too long ago from Topshop after eyeing them up on the site. They were slightly on the pricey side at £40 but I'm in love with them. The shorts are a cream chiffon material over a more opaque short underneath. The embroidery is so pretty and the colours are modern and refreshing; I was so excited when I saw the hint of electric blue with them as I knew they would look amazing with my River Island blue court shoes! I bought this top from ASOS as I haven't been able to find a bright blue cami anywhere else and it's the perfect colour. It's a beautiful cami in a woven, almost silky looking fabric and hangs beautifully.

This is one of my all time favourite outfits. I've definitely been embracing more colour recently and I adore this deep electric blue shade. I'm going to take this outfit to Marbella as I can't wait to wear it on a night out, although, it would look equally lovely with a pair of flat sandals for during the day.

I can't recommend these shorts enough- you need them in your life! If you want them to fit highwaisted,  order a size down; however I decided to get my actual size in these as I wanted them a little longer.

I hope you like this look as much as I do! I've been doing a fair bit of shopping lately so I've got lots more outfits in the pipeline to be photographed soon- so keep an eye out for them. OOTD: Daydreams & Daisy Chains

 photo BlogPicsJuly_zpsc422d0c0.jpg photo HeadShot_zps10c8ef07.jpg photo BlogPicsJuly2_zps8d5220b3.jpg photo Shorts_zps001ea7b8.jpg photo BlogPicsJuly1_zps07f1dfd9.jpg

I admit it, I really do get sucked in by celebrity endorsements but I saw Millie Mackintosh model these beautiful shorts on her blog and they HAD to be mine! I'm so glad I bought these, I've been looking for some smarter day to night shorts to take on holiday (I go to Marbella in three weeks!) and these are the perfect pair. I would say that they are a little see-through, but as long as you don't wear black underwear you should be fine! They are a cream crepe fabric with a black floral trim and I bought these from Miss Selfridge for £32- apparently they're flying off the shelves but they still have lots of sizes online. I think these are the perfect shorts for a casual trip around the town on holiday or with heels and nice jewellery, these would look gorgeous on a night out; the perfect versatile piece!

The cami is actually a cropped cami from Topshop. I've been obsessed with camis for a few weeks now and have the black and cream Topshop ones along with a beautiful electric blue cami from ASOS (all would look lovely with these shorts!).

I added my wooden heels to the outfit as I love them and can't stop wearing them, they are really comfortable and look great with so many summer looks. For jewellery I've kept the look minimal, choosing some gorgeous earrings I picked up for £3 in Miss Selfridge yesterday and my trusty Topshop geometric necklace.

I hope you like this look and it's given you some inspiration for how to wear smarter shorts. I absolutely love this outfit and can't wait to wear it in England and in Spain- lets just hope the weather keeps up!
